Defibrillators are set to become more publically accessible at Shire facilities thanks to a partnership between Shire of Mundaring and Bendigo Community Bank Mundaring.

The partnership has seen Bendigo Community Bank Mundaring grant the shire a total $4,960 to support the Shire’s own community defibrillator program.

Bendigo Community Bank Mundaring’s funding will go towards a defibrillator and cabinet for Elsie Austin Pavilion in Mount Helena, and at Harry Riseborough Oval in Mundaring, to support the Perth Hills United Football Club’s new Walking Soccer Program. 

Funding has also been provided for the replacement child and adult pads for other defibrillators in the Shire.

Shire President James Martin thanked Bendigo Community Bank Mundaring for reaching out to the Shire and offering community assistance funding for activities that supported the wider community.

“The Shire currently has 18 sites where Publically Accessible Defibrillators (PADs) are provided by the Shire and community groups which the shire services and maintains,” he said.

 “However, a review found that there was a gap in available PADs at some shire community facilities.

“We currently have 10 facilities where PADs are externally accessible for the community 24/7, and eight sites where PADs are accessible inside the facility when they are open to the public.

“The Shire has also funded the installation of new outdoor defibrillators at Chidlow Oval, Glen Forrest Oval and Wooroloo Hall, bringing the total across the shire to 23.

“Now that installation is complete, the Shire will register the new boxes with St John Ambulance First Responder App.”

Should community members need to use the defibrillators, they will be able to call 000 where they will receive a code and instructions on how to use the defibrillators.
