MPCF design concept sketches unveiled for feedback

Two concept sketch options for the Mundaring Town Centre Multi-Purpose Community Facility (MPCF) and Civic/Cultural Precinct Masterplan will be unveiled for community feedback via a survey on Engage Mundaring this week.

Shire of Mundaring residents, businesses and stakeholders are invited to have their say on the options and identify their preferred concept from 5pm Thursday 29 June until Thursday 13 July.

Shire President James Martin said the Shire was committed to revitalising the Mundaring Town Centre through the creation of a new civic and cultural heart.

“A key component of this commitment is the rationalisation of a range of civic and community facilities, such as the Albert Facey Memorial Library, multi-purpose community spaces and a range of other community services, into a proposed new Multi-Purpose Community Facility,” he said.

Sketch options created from community feedback

In late May, community members, residents, community groups, service providers and councillors provided their feedback at a three day collaborative design forum. Feedback has also been provided at various stakeholder workshops and as part of a community deliberative panel.

The feedback received has helped the Shire’s design consultants to develop two concept sketches and masterplan options.

Cr Martin said he encouraged community members to have their say and be part of shaping Mundaring’s future by providing their feedback.

“We want to hear from you,” he said.

“I strongly encourage all community members to tell us which concept option they like and why.

“Based on the feedback, the design team will refine the concepts and masterplan options and make a recommendation to Council on the preferred option based on an established set of decision-making criteria.”

Take the Online Survey

An online survey will be available to complete from 5pm Thursday 29 June via the Mundaring Multi-Purpose Community Facility project page on Engage Mundaring.

Hardcopies of the survey will also be available at the Shire’s Hub of the Hills, libraries and Shire Administration Centre.

About the MPCF

The development of concept sketches for the MPCF and a masterplan for the Civic/Cultural Precinct forms part of a comprehensive and community-driven three-year planning and design phase (Stage 2: 2022-2025), which includes concept design, operational modelling, initial land assembly work, precinct improvements and securing funding for construction.

In addition to ongoing land assembly work and precinct improvements, Stage 3 (2025-2026) will involve detailed design of the MPCF, with construction of the new facility (Stage 4) scheduled to begin in 2027.
