Nominations are sought from community members who have the requisite skills, knowledge and experience to be appointed to the Shire’s Audit and Risk Committee as an external member. Council may appoint up to two external members.

The primary objective of the committee is to accept responsibility for the annual external audit and liaise with the Shire’s auditor so that Council can be satisfied with the performance of the Shire in managing its financial affairs. Meetings are held four times a year in February, May, August and November.

The appointment(s) will be made by Council for a two-year term commencing after the October 2023 local government elections.

External members should possess financial, accounting, governance and risk management experience and have strong business acumen, management and communication skills.

Potential applicants for the role of external member will be required to submit the following information in order to be considered for appointment:

  1.  resume (maximum two pages); and
  2. a statement (maximum one page) responding to the following:
  1.  Why you wish to serve on the committee
  2.  What qualifications (evidence to be supplied) and professional experience you have that would benefit the committee.

Nominations close Monday 11 September 2023 and can be sent via the online form available on Engage Mundaring or sent by email to shire@mundaring.wa.gov.au.

At the close of the advertising period, applications for external members shall be assessed against the selection criteria with a report providing recommendations for appointment to be considered by Council.

Further information and the Terms of Reference for the Audit and Risk Committee are available on the Shire’s website.
