Shire of Mundaring is helping to enrich community groups and clubs through its Quick Grants funding.
The Shire’s popular General Purpose Quick Grants Program will see 22 community organisations receive a combined $10,397.04 in funding for small equipment items, training, projects and marketing material.
Shire President Paige McNeil said the funding approved in the first round of 2023-24 Quick Grants Program will be used to support great projects and initiatives across the shire.
“We are so pleased to support community groups who provide a wide range of local services, activities and valuable projects which support and enrich community life for everyone,” she said.
Lending support to Save Perth Hills
One of the successful applicants was Save Perth Hills (SPH) who received $500 in funding to purchase a gazebo and a portable projector screen to use at markets, future rallies, fundraising events, information sessions and AGMs.
SPH is a volunteer organisation established in 1991 and is still actively working to address the challenges posed by urbanisation in the Perth Hills. The primary focus of SPH is to ensure the safety of all residents in a region increasingly susceptible to bushfires. Additionally, the group is dedicated to preserving the rich biodiversity, unique lifestyle, and natural beauty and amenity of the Hills.
It is the group’s third Quick Grant with all funding helping to support both community engagement efforts and information/education sessions.
In previous funding rounds (2022 and 2023), the group received $500 for pull-up banners and $500 for promotional stickers.
SPH Chair Peter Brazier said the materials are a great promotional and educational resource that help the community learn about SPH’s long history, actions, and achievements.
“Supporters who display the bright yellow Save Perth Hills stickers on their cars often get a friendly ‘honk’ from other SPH supporters in passing. The stickers are a great reminder for local residents and our ‘visitors’ that the Hills belong to everyone, and that we must all help to protect and preserve this unique natural environment, now and for future generations.’”
