To celebrate NAIDOC Week, Shire of Mundaring’s Library Services will host a school holiday NAIDOC activity at Boya Community Centre on Friday 7 July from 10am to 11am.

Young people aged seven to 12 are invited to attend an Animal Mosaics workshop where they can create their own Australian animal using magnetic foam.

Shire President James Martin said NAIDOC Week was a time to celebrate and recognise the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week runs from Sunday 2 July to Sunday 9 July. The theme of NAIDOC 2023 is ‘For our Elders’. It is a reminder of those in our community from whom we can draw strength, knowledge and experience.

Cr Martin said the week was an opportunity for the Shire to acknowledge and thank local Elders.

“Our Elders provide leadership and knowledge and drive many projects and initiatives to support and grow community resilience.”
